Publishing Services Available
Chester River Press invites enquiries for publishing private manuscripts, memoirs and books. Depending on the type of publication, budget and design elements, we are able to offer several different choices for publication—from commercial offset printing and Indigo jet-print type printing to metal (Linotype or Monotype cast) or photopolymer letterpress printing.
Manuscript Guidelines
Final manuscripts must be received electronically in a Word.doc along with a print-out. Word files should not have space between paragraphs and should be single line-spaced. Times and Helvetica should be used to allow us easy conversion to fonts of your final choice. Use one space between the end of one sentence and the beginning of another.
Photographs should be scanned at 300 dpi or we can scan them for $25 each scan (including color balancing and minor repair).
Artwork, drawings, illustrations should also be scanned. Consult with us about that process, as each type of art requires a different approach. In most cases we can scan them for you.
Light editing and spell check are included in the publishing fee. Complete editing with revision recommendations are invoiced at $50/hr. above the publishing fee. Final proofs are always provided.

One recent project was a book of poems for Mr. Robert Cook of Chestertown, Maryland, memorilizing his son's poetry. Letterpress printed on Hahnemühle Bugra paper with two poems hand italicized by Mr. Cook and turned into photopolymer plates, the book, as all hand-made books should be, was a labor of love. Everyone was pleased.
